Details of the offer:
- Category: Workshop
- Duration: 120–180 minutes
- Suitable for teens ages 14 and up
Sixty years ago, the war cemetery in Niederbronn-les-Bains was opened. At that time, when memories of the war were still fresh, the difficult process of Franco-German reconciliation had only just begun. A war graves agreement in 1954 marked an important step.
The educational module “Niederbronn 1960: Reconciliation Through the Lens of Time” is designed to help young people better understand this period and empathize with the political processes as well as the feelings of the residents of Niederbronn-les-Bains. Through workshop activities, they first gain insight into the historical processes surrounding the war graves agreement, Franco-German reconciliation, and the history of Niederbronn. They then work with historical sources to reenact the events that led to the construction of the cemetery. Acting and directing skills are required!
