Primary Source Research – Boxes

Details of the offer:

  • Category: Workshop
  • Duration: approx. 90–120 minutes
  • Suitable for young people aged 14 and over

Every history enthusiast knows the feeling of finding documents in an old shoebox that provide clues about relatives and the family’s past. This feeling is evoked in this version of our traditional primary source work. Participants are given the task of using the contents of a box to uncover the story of a person buried in Niederbronn. Inside the box, they will find facsimiles of photos, letters and documents that provide clues to the person’s life; they then piece together the person’s life story themselves using the information found. The participants receive a glossary and worksheets with necessary information in order to fulfill their task.

Historical research: a hands-on experience!
