Against Forgetting
In 2025, the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e. V. launched the international educational project “Against forgetting – For Peace and Solidarity in Europe” in collaboration with partner organisations specialising in historical and political education and youth work from six countries.
In the summer of 2025, 178 participants aged between 15 and 30 from 14 European countries developed an exhibition during a series of international youth exchanges, through which they advocate for the remembrance of the Holocaust, war crimes and crimes against humanity in 20th-century Europe. The exhibition focuses on events in France, Slovenia, Hungary, Germany, Poland and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and highlights the link between collective memory and shared European values. To accompany this, the participants reflected on their insights in a podcast. The whole project is designed as a peer-to-peer initiative: by young people, for young people.
The French-language exhibition will be on display at the Centre International Albert Schweitzer from 24 April to 26 June 2026. Admission is free. Translated versions are available online. The project is funded by the European Commissions ‘CERV’ programme.
